What should I do if my car breaks down on the road?
If you can, get off the road or onto the right shoulder, and turn on your hazard lights. According to CAA-Québec, stay buckled in on a fast road, and call 911 if you're on a bridge, in a tunnel or on a busy road. Then call a tow service. My car won't start, what should I check first?
Check whether the dash lights come on: if they're dim or off, it's often the battery. If the engine cranks but won't start, it may be fuel or ignition. Note any noises and warning lights, as that helps the mechanic. General repair and maintenance →
